LMNZ - Worldwide Rap is a new album release that features one of our favourite MCs, The Narcycist, as well as an amazing collection or MCs from around this planet.
The album features too many vocalists, instrumentalists and DJs to list here but you can read all the details and acquire the album from HERE.
They say: LMNZ had the vision to produce a Hip-Hop album that brings the world closer, a multilingual Hip-Hop album without a limit to musical influence. Musicians with different styles from diverse backgrounds fused together.
The influences range from jazz, soul, blues and salsa to Arabic and Chinese music and the texts do not follow the cliché image of hip hop displayed in today’s media. The album tells of war, societal ills and problems, but also of love, funny daily situations and inspiration. 76 artists from all over the world, who sing and rap in 29 different languages to realize the vision of a worldwide album.
29 languages:
Japanese, Hebrew, German, Swedish, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Turkish, Russian, Dutch, Italian, French, Wolof, Bosnian, Africaans, Spanish, Norwegian, Korean, Persian, Czech, Arabic, Lugaflow, Sanskrit, English, Singhalese, Greek, Diola, Lingala, Patois, Albanian
The album is only 8 Euros from HERE.

COREnered: Q&A with Secret Archives of the Vatican
There's a Q&A with Secret Archives of the Vatican here on the TuneCore blog: COREnered: Q&A with Secret Archives of the Vatican
Producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist, Dub Gabriel has been pushing the limits of subwoofers worldwide for over a decade. His musical explorations in Brooklyn in the mid 90s drew him to the outer limits of the New York scene where he got his start as a DJ at the legendary Limelight Club. With his early sound being a portent of today’s burgeoning dubstep scene, his bass-bending style and hard-hitting sets launched him as a trailblazing figure in the New York underground club scene and gained him the attention of leading publications that include XLR8R, Interview, Billboard, Pitchfork, Time Out New York, The Wire, International DJ and countless others.
Restless Youth is the follow up to Dub Gabriel's single, Luv n’ Liv which featured the legendary U-Roy on the mic. With Restless Youth, Dub Gabriel continues to push the musical envelope even further, delivering a deep and heavy dancehall-meets-dubstep scorcher.
Buy it HERE.
For the lead track, No Lies, Dub Gabriel has paired up with none other than MC Zulu, one of the most sought-after ragga vocalists in electronic music today. Zulu has been killing dance floors worldwide over the past few years, having collaborated with Ghislain Poirier (Ninja Tune), Soulico (J-Dub) and a host of other top producers – his newest track with Dub Gabriel is set to be one of this year’s hottest dance-floor bangers! On the studio front, Dub Gabriel once again enlisted the services of electronic music icon, Mark Pistel (Meat Beat Manifesto, Hercules & The Love Affair, Grace Jones) – the two of them pushing an arsenal of analogue synths, drum machines, vintage tape echoes and outboard studio gear to the max.
Restless Youth features four tracks which, on top of the incendiary No Lies, includes the post-apocalyptic sounds of Babylon Shall Fall, the riddim treatment of Set the Lazers to Destroy the Sun and, the dance floor crushing frequencies of Tactile Evasion, a remix of No Lies from the mighty Liquid Stranger.

Splendid Beats - Psilicon Dreams 9 podcast opens with one of our tunes, Gold and Slaves - download or listen to it HERE.

They appear to have run the entire track through a reverb unit to dub it up a little....
The main man, Crispy, says this:
Heavily inspired by a fantastic few days at the mighty Shambhala Music Festival, I assembled a groovy mix of the many shades of dub. From straight-up, to world beats, to techy, to a dash of dubstep… it’s all there. I even dubbed-up the artwork to complete the package. Highlights include a classic slice of The Orb, new tracks from Adham Shaikh and Kalpataru Tree, some serious deepness from KiloWatts and Evan Marc & Steve Hillage, an absolute ripper from Nagual Sound Experiment vs. Ital Roots Player, and the dubtronic masters, Pitch Black, bringing us safely back to earth at the end.

Flying Lotus - Inside the Codex: the Art of Cosmogramma
Flying Lotus makes some intriguing electronic music that is (strangely, to my mind) often marketed as dubstep, which is clearly isn't. Here's a video, Flying Lotus - Inside the Codex: the Art of Cosmogramma, which is a short feature on the concepts behind his latest album Cosmogramma , released in May 2010, and its artwork.

Born Free
This is an amazing and slightly disturbing video. There’s so little music out there that says anything at all these days that it’s good to see this.

Arabian House Mix
Here's a cheesy Arabian House Mix we did a short while back.
This was a mix we took to Morocco in June 2010 with the idea that we might spin a set at the Jambash, a series of small scale events happening at the same time as the annual Gnawa Festival in Essaouira. For various reasons, we didn't get to spin, so here's the mix, just for you! It's a bit cheesy but we like it!!

Intransitive Recordings
Intransitive Recordings is a label I've just discovered. I think their releases are all CDs or CDRs.They say this about themselves:
Intransitive is a record label and online magazine dedicated to electronic, electro-acoustic, and otherwise unclassifiable “experimental” music. No, I don’t like that term very much either, but it’s general enough to mean something to somebody........If you hear two Intransitive releases and can sorta tell that there is some unifying aesthetic behind them both, but can’t quite put your finger on what that is, then I’ve done my job.
Sounds worth investigating to me!
There's a magazine element to what they do:
The magazine is my way of facilitating conversation between artists, between artists and listeners, and between anyone who is curious about the issues that move people to make abstract sounds and the artists themselves. You will find monthly Round Table discussions about issues related to sound-making… articles by artists about their own work, and dialogue between sympathetic folks… in-depth interviews, book excerpts, galleries of visual art and essays on film by sound artists, and looks behind the curtain to talk about the experience of thinking about and making this noise. Please join the conversation! Feel free to comment on articles that interest you, and share them with others.
Check out the magazine HERE.
Fake Media/Entropia
Fake Media is the name of an release I found while trawling through various netlabels' sites. It's by Normaa and features five tracks:
- GazaHebron
- Otra Vez te Equivocas
- The Void Night
- The Void Coliseum
- The Void Triumph
It was released in early 2008 by one of our favourite labels, Fresh Poulpe.
Normaa aka Eduardo Acosta says the album is: 'the result of the manipulated media, the current conflicts, the forgotten wars, poverty, and the dignity of the occupated (sic) lands and exploited countries. A travel between dub and IDM, exploring vocals and melodies, smooth and pain, red tears and dark hope. The digital drama and the war against wrong system and skills.'
There's an Eastern feel buried in among the electronica, which is why we like it here in the Secret Archives. You can download this fine free release from HERE.
While I was looking at this album, I found a later release also! It's called Entropia and was released in 2009. It features eight tracks:
- Enana Blanca
- Planck Era
- Les Organismes
- Become An Evil
- OTAN VS Nature
- Normaagedon
- Solar Ring
- Bass Rebel Front (Bonus track)
You can download it from HERE.
The label says this: 'Normaa with Entropia, offers a new sound, different from their previous ep Fake Media. Here is the Normaa sauced dubstep, dubstep to a futuristic urban atmosphere that will shake your walls.'
